The 500 MHz spectrometer utilizes a Magnex 89mm bore super conducting magnet. The spectrometer is a commercially made Varian Inova and features three RF channels. Variable temperature NMR operation is achieved with the use of a Haake F3 variable temperature bath and a home-built controller that regulates the probes' internal heater. Several home-built probes are available for this system including double resonance ¹⁵N, ¹H and ³¹P, 1H in both flat and round coil configurations, as well as ¹H, ¹⁵N and ¹³C triple resonance probes in addition to a Varian T3 triple resonance probe. Additionally, a double resonance ¹⁵N, ¹H cryogenic probe that operates immersed in liquid nitrogen is available.
